[ she'd heard about his presence in the city, but she'd kept her distance purposely, wanting to separate herself from those who'd recognize her, imagining they're likely to be judging her on what she'd done back in their world.
it's why she's surprised when he does reach out to her, though possibly not entirely. typically, when people come to her, it's because her powers have a use. ]
Stephen. [ she doesn't even get a chance to say what she's usually prepared to start with (I messed up and people were hurt), instead hearing him jump straight to the point. ] What happened?
Some kids cast a spell they shouldn't have been messing with, opened up a pocket dimension that's trying its best to spread. Once it's cleared, I want as many layers of security on it as we can throw - preferably more than just mine.
[ The more interlaced magic binding it to the house the better, and the more powerful that magic the better. Between the two of them and Loki, he figures they ought to be able to establish a fairly formidable seal. ]
[ one of the more surprising things about being here is the way that people actually seek out her help again. and maybe, for now, that's more than enough. ]
You want me to help you seal it. [ or at least keep it from expanding. it should be as simple as a hex β if her magic can mange it here. ] I can do what I can. Are you asking others?
I don't really care which to be honest. No one here has walked up to me and shouted 'heathen' or thrown paint at me. I will take it. Haven't seen any no Meta signs either.
the smallest loki's made some sort of deal with what might be a demon/outer god/eldritch being/who knows.
there are a few of us who are going to try to bind it, but i was thinking that it would be good to have your help, too, just in case. and given how similar our abilities are, i think you and i can work together pretty much flawlessly. i mean, if you feel comfortable with that.
Just the elder. The younger's magic isn't honed enough to help with something like this yet.
[ Or so he's told, he's yet to experience it in person. As for her second question... ]
But I trust him with this, yeah.
[ He could vouch for him more generally, but that isn't how trust works. Reputations precede, prejudices form, priorities predestine. If she's ever going to truly trust him, it's up to her to decide that for herself - which doesn't need to happen now. ]
[ she looks at the message for a minute, torn at the idea of answering it. it's not the same tony, she knows that, but β the idea of any version of tony stark checking in on her never really comes with a sense of gratitude. the tony she knew would be "checking" just to make sure she hadn't been tearing the world apart.
[ the feeling of her continued requested involvement in resolving anything magic these days feels plenty strange. after all, wanda's never been seen as someone reliable with her powers, so it's not like a lot of trust tends to be placed on her.
but if it's billy β ]
I can try. If we do it together, I'm sure we can.
What about Loki? Do you think he's going to get involved in stuff like that often?
( there isn't much for him to miss about new amsterdam or its residents. kai wasn't there long enough for the city to have any real impact on him, except for that rather unpleasant stint in the aeries (which has proven to have more of a lasting effect on him than new amsterdam did). if there were people he missed, then it would be few and far between. he would like to see booker and kyna again. he would also like to see his roommate again who he may or may not have realized too late that he never did learn the name of. it became a bit of an inside joke between them for him to simply call her miss herbal tea, so it didn't really cross his mind to ask her again.
central city has become his chosen place of stay. he likes it here. in fact, he much prefers this world over the last. magic practically sizzles in the air all around him. although cc pales in comparison to sunset falls for magical potentness, it thrives in criminality and shady dealings which is what he is really after.
his ambitions aside, kai has acclimated to his new life nicely. he has a very long to-do list, but he isn't in a rush to complete it, allowing him the opportunity to explore and meet new people on the daily. one such excursion has brought him to a market district with rows of specialized shops on both sides of the street selling different types of food and ingredients. passing by a seafood shop, he almost stumbles when his eyes catches sight of a familiar face through the window. )
No way. ( without further thought, he enters the store and walks towards her. ) Are you planning on whipping up a lobster dinner?

Wanda. I'm sorry this is the first you've heard from me, but I'm going to need your help.

[ because, strangely enough, she's met two while she's been here. as if things in this place haven't been confusing enough. ]

[ she hesitates on the question, because for as much as loki has his own reputation, she certainly has hers, too. ]

I thought so. I'm just not used to a Tony Stark checking in on me.
